Revelation 6:1-17 Every Tribe, Tongue, Nation and People

by fol CHURCH on December 11, 2018

Yesterday we discovered who was to open the scroll (it was Jesus, the Lion who looked like a slaughtered lamb), the Lamb opens it and puts into motion events that must occur to bring about the end and then a new beginning.  It looks like fighting, lack of food, death, earthquakes and darkness, are all part of what needs to happen. It looks as if God is preparing to start again (more on that later in the chapters (no spoilers) so keep reading!)

Reading this, you get to see that it doesn’t matter how rich you are, what position you hold or how strong you are, everyone needs to know God and the saving power of Jesus.  It’s some comfort that generals, kings and magistrates all try to flee from the judgement because that means that we all have the chance to be saved and to accept Jesus’ sacrifice. From yesterday we saw that “by [His] blood, [He] ransomed for God saints from every tribe and language and people and nation.” No-one can escape the judgement, but we can all accept Him as Saviour and as long as the sky is still there and there are stars and the moon, we still have a chance to accept Him. We still have the chance to tell others about Him before the end when it will all go away.  It’s not too late.  That doesn’t mean we can keep putting off accepting Him, or put off telling others, thinking “I’ll do it tomorrow” because we never know when “that day” will come.

We may worry what others may say or do, but there is a promise for those who have given their lives for the word of God which is that they will have rest, a white robe and a place close to God.  No matter what goes on around us, no matter how bad things will get, we can be assured that as long as we hold firm to our faith and keep telling others about Jesus, we will have the place of rest that the Lamb gives those saints who have given Him their life.

Father God, thank you that you freely give the gift of salvation to all those who ask for it, rich, poor, powerful or not. Thank you that we don’t have to buy it with money and we don’t have to earn it with works.  Thank you that you “ransomed for God people from every tribe, language, people and nation and have made us a kingdom of priests who will reign on Earth” at the end.  Amen.
