Romans 10:5-11:16 Salvation

by fol CHURCH on September 17, 2018

This passage is about true salvation. Paul writes of the importance of knowing who you are as a child of God, proclaiming that God is Lord of Lords and of living by that fact. Not being swayed by anything, but staying strong in the salvation that Jesus won for you.

The true meaning of Salvation is ‘healed’. We stepped away from our pure relationship with God when we stepped into sin by eating the forbidden fruit bringing damage upon ourselves. We do that every time we separate ourselves from God by sinning. When we live in the salvation that is freely ours, we live in the truth that we are healed. We live in jars of clay, and our bodies can sometimes fail us, but our hearts can stay so true to God when we live as a healed, saved person.

Paul explains what this looks like. It truly comes from within, and you will know if you are living by His pure love or not.  “If the part of the dough offered as first fruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches’ (11:16). Letting love replace anger and kindness replace hatred. This is all done by faith and is for everyone!

If I was to come, with all good intentions, to try and help someone who was living in deep sin and didn’t have much in this world, maybe I gave them the best shampoo and soap to use in a shower, and take them shopping for the best clothes. Or get them a great haircut and some really good perfume. Maybe I buy them a home that has the best furniture in it. If their heart doesn’t change, they won’t last long in that place. Their clothes will get dirty again and they will mess the house up. They won’t last long in a job and with that, they won’t be able to buy shampoo anymore. It’s a funny example, but we look like this. Without proclaiming God is Lord and living in that faith that He is Lord of Lords we can try to play the part, try to clean up and look good. But if our hearts don’t change and the root isn’t Jesus we won’t last long.

What do we look like? What are we truly rooted in? Do we carry the fruits of the Spirit that is meant to live inside of us? Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control? (Gal 5:22)  What fruit do we display from being truly healed in salvation? If you would like to be saved today, I invite you to proclaim that ‘Jesus is Lord’ and ask Him to come in your heart today!
