If you’ve had even the most sheltered experience of life as a Christian you will know that God loves to work in ways that build our faith in Him. He sometimes allows troubles and difficulties to happen because it helps us to grow in our faith and trust in Him. I cannot even begin to count the number of times I’ve wondered why something is happening to me. And, I mean me? Why me? What did I do to deserve this? But I’ve put my trust and faith in God and watched Him do some extraordinary things.
Many years ago when the Fountain of Life was beginning as a church we set out to build a new church on a piece of ground we had been offered. The planning permission was denied, then so was our appeal and even when it got to the Home Office for further scrutiny it was rejected. We wondered what God was doing when suddenly a new opportunity opened up and the buildings we have now came to us. It is a great testimony to the power of God that He moved a mountain and made a way for His church. So the next time we stepped out to do something new we went knowing that wherever we put our feet in faith God would be there with us (if not before us). It’s a kind of déjà vu thing. I’ve seen Him do this before and I know I’ll see Him do it again. Revelation 19:10 says, “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Testimony about the things He has done is in itself a prophetic act. He’s done it before so therefore He can do it again.
Paul writes about the way this worked for him. The more he found himself in peril the more he relied on God. And God delivered him and his colleagues from that peril. May we go that way in faith too!

Question:
Have you experienced testing and seen God at work? Have you noticed how you come to rely upon Him more and more? What’s happening in your life right now and what do you need to trust God for?
Prayer:
Father God, I place into Your almighty hands all my troubles and stresses. I ask that You would carry me when I cannot progress on my own. I ask for Your strength and Your power to overcome. Amen.
