There are 2 paragraphs in my translation of today’s passage. The really frightening thing is that the first one could have been written yesterday or even today. Paul lists in graphic detail all the things that people will do in ‘The Last Days’ and you could very easily believe that the last days have arrived already. There is barely a day that goes by where the news isn’t full of stories about people, groups of people or even governments have been behaving in the way he describes.
As is so often the case with Paul there is a flip side to the coin. Timothy, I have taught you how to live… Of course, the truth is that we all know how to live it’s just the doing of it that we seem to struggle with. I love the way Paul finished this chapter too, verse 16 - 17
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Everything you need to know is in the good book. Make sure you live by its teaching and its principles. Know what it says because it is as if God breathed the words on its pages Himself for us. Dig into it, soak it up, devour it because it’s all there to equip you for every good work!

Reflection:
How much time do you put into reading God’s word? Do you have a regular time for reading the Bible? Do you keep a journal or a note of the things that impact you? What do you need to do to deepen your understanding of the things you read?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your word. Help each of us to absorb the things of Your heart. Equip us through Your word to live life as You designed it to be lived so that we might thrive and walk more closely with You. Amen.
