The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him
When I was younger I decided I wanted to work in forestry. I tried all sorts of things to get into the profession but every door seemed closed to me. So, I started looking for back doors and side entrances until all avenues were exhausted. So, I changed my mind and went off and did something else instead. Despite the fact that I was a Christian and knew that God has plans for each of us I had made up my mind that I was going to do the thing that I wanted to do. Eventually I found an opening and had a pretty unsuccessful career being… me.
Years later I discovered what God’s plan for me was. I’ve stepped into it, made some big changes and found success. I’m now enjoying much greater success being who God called me to be.
God has been good to me even though I rebelled against Him and went away to do my own thing without even asking what He wanted for me. When I turned my life around and sought His purposes for my life everything changed. And when I say everything I mean that EVERYTHING changed.
God knows the plans he has for us (see Jeremiah 29:11). He knows what’s good for us and what’s not. He knows what’s going to turn into success and what will descend into abject failure. So the wise thing to do is to seek His will and purposes for us and walk in that. Here I would like to add a word of encouragement, God is merciful and forgiving. He is always willing to receive a repentant sinner. He will always listen to your apology that you did your thing instead of His and help you back on your way again. In this He never fails. Ever.
