In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.
In Exodus 15:13, Moses declares, “In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength, you will guide them to your holy dwelling.” This verse is part of the Song of Moses, a triumphant hymn sung after the Israelites crossed the Red Sea. Having just experienced God’s miraculous deliverance, Moses focuses on two qualities of God: His unfailing love and His strength. Together, these attributes guarantee that God will guide His redeemed people to the place He has prepared for them.
The "unfailing love" of God is a key theme throughout Scripture. It’s a love that remains steadfast, even in the face of our unfaithfulness, frailty and sin. For the Israelites, this meant God’s commitment to fulfil His promises, despite their doubts and complaints. For us today, it reminds us that God's love is unwavering. When we face uncertainty or feel unworthy, His love assures us that He will never abandon us.
The "strength" of God complements His love. It’s His power that brings about redemption and His might that protects and sustains us on our journey. Just as He parted the sea and guided Israel through the wilderness, God demonstrates His strength in our lives by removing obstacles, providing for our needs, and guiding us to the future He has promised.
This verse invites us to trust God fully, knowing that His love and strength will lead us, even through difficult times. We may not always see the path clearly, but His unfailing love assures us of His faithfulness, and His strength gives us the confidence to keep moving forward.
