When we cry out to God, we have the assurance that He will hear us. The people of Israel are reminded that: ‘Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him! (v.19).
One incredible aspect about the grace and love of God, is that He allows us our own independence and lets us make our own decisions, for good or bad. Life is full of ‘crossroads’ and it can be difficult to know what to do, how to react, which path to follow. Here in verse 21, God is telling the Israelites, that if they surrender to His will, then He will be their guide, just as He was in the wilderness.
‘Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." (v.21).
Christianity first emerged not as a new religion, but as a reform and sect of Judaism within Judea and the Mediterranean. Wherever Paul, Peter, and other early missionaries travelled, they formed small communities of believers in “The Way,” a movement that emphasized Jesus’ teachings, death, and resurrection as the path to transformation.

Application:
Today we too can hear ‘a voice’ telling us the way – it is the person of the Holy Spirit who lives inside every believer, to bring wisdom, discernment, and guidance for every day of our lives. All we have to do, is ask Him!
Prayer:
Dear Lord, forgive me when I behave like an obstinate child and ignore You, and go my own way instead. Holy Spirit, please fill me anew this day, that I may heed Your voice in decisions that I may face today. Amen.
