Isaiah 43:1-44:5 Created, Redeemed and Loved

by fol CHURCH on January 26, 2021

Written as a prophecy to the Israelite nation approximately 200 years before their exile it speaks of their redemption from Babylon.  It is a song of love from God to His people, in it He reveals 8 points to show how special we are in His sight.

1 – Procured by God – Redeemed; given a name – v.1.   Speaks of God’s creation and redemption of His children.  He created the nation of Israel and redeemed them from slavery in Egypt.  In the same way he redeemed us from sin and death through the work of His Son at the cross.  The Lord created, redeemed, and called us by name. We are His. We call Him Abba and he gives us our name.

2- Protected by God -  v.2. The Israelites passed through the Red Sea and God was with them.  When we go through overwhelming troubles in our lives and feel as if we are drowning his promise is that He will never leave us or forsake us– I Kings 8:57 , Heb 4:16, Heb 13:5.

3- Precious to God – v.3-4. Israel is very precious to God and historically he has exchanged nations for her Assyria and Babylon have disappeared, but Israel is still there.  God loves His people and therefore preserves them.

4- Preserved by God – (Joshua 24:17, Jude 1:1, 1 Thess 5:23, 1 Tim 6:12-14).

5- Predestined by God – 44:1.   So why did God choose the Israelites? (Is 43:9-12 & 21). Their function was to be witnesses to the nations and declare that apart from Him there is no God.  Why did He choose us?  Simply put – because He Loves us.  He loved us and chose us from our mothers Wombs. (Is 44:2,  Gal 1:15, Jer 1:5, Rom 1:1, Rom 8:28-30) and has a purpose for each and every one of us to fulfil. In light of this, as children of God what is our purpose/function?

6- Privileged in God- 44:3-5 God himself would pour out water for them and make streams in the desert.  He would also pour out His Holy Spirit a prophecy fulfilled in Acts 2 that continues to be fulfilled to this day amongst His children.

7- Productive for God- 44:3-4 (Is 27:6; John 15:5, 8 & 16)

8 – Proud of God – 44:5 – Once we know God, Believe in Him and understand Him then we too can be witnesses to God telling others about him (Is 43:10-11) and proudly proclaim We belong to the Lord.
