Judges 6 Checking in With God

by on March 09, 2023

If you have ever come before God and asked Him to give you a vision for something you’ll know that you do that in the knowledge that you may well end up doing something that that’s outside of your comfort zone. It is in our nature to think within the boundaries of the things we know and are familiar with. The problem is that God’s boundaries of so much broader than ours. HIs resources are endless and His concept of what’s possible extends far beyond what we can hope to imagine. Who among us might have considered it possible to create something that generations of people have studied and struggled to understand? Who might have conceived of something so vast and yet so infinitely complex at the same time? But that is the God we worship.

It’s no wonder that when Gideon was called to stand against the invading hoards of Midianites he wanted some assurances that God was going to be on his side. He wanted to know that God would back him up and resource him in whatever escapade he was called to. Gideon wanted to check in with God to make sure that he had heard the call accurately. No matter how he looked at it the things that God was calling him to the outcome seemed pretty bleak.

Our God is a gracious God. He gave Gideon the assurances he needed. It doesn’t mean that Gideon wasn’t terrified any more it just gave him enough faith to take a step forward in faith. We’ll see what happened tomorrow.
