Psalm 103 The God of Glory

by on May 30, 2023

Some years ago an American Pastor called S.M. Lockridge delivered a 7 minute long description of Jesus as part of a sermon. If you’ve never listened to it please take time today to look it up on YouTube it’s one of the most powerful and uplifting sermons I’ve ever heard. It’s available at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwQqQkdn_5Q or you can Google “That’s my King.” During the course of the talk, Lockridge repeated the same line several times, “That’s my King! Do you know Him?”

Psalm 103 is a song of praise like Lockridge’s sermon. A song that describes God in all His glory. It is a song that describes God’s love for His people and set’s out the desires of His heart for His people.  It lays bare His overwhelming passion for His creation. It shows us His pain when we’ve done wrong and His delight when we’ve repented. It reminds us of some of the history He has established with those who followed Him. It declares to us that His promises are true and everlasting, and it sets Him apart from anything else that we might set up in place of him. It teaches us that He knows us better than we could ever know ourselves because He was the one who created us. It demonstrates His compassion for us and reminds us that when life is over, He will still be there for us through all of eternity.

If you need a few verses to remind you why you believe in God these ones are a brilliant summary of The God of Glory and of all that He is and all He should mean to us.

Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name!
